Mormon Handcart Historical Sites in Wyoming include different locations where the Martin and Willie handcart companies experienced tremendous trials and were rescued by the saints from Salt Lake City. These sites offer families and youth groups with an opportunity to learn and experience the hardships the handcart pioneers endured.
There are a variety of different historical and sacred sites, visitor centers, handcart pulls, and campground facilities. There is a $15.00 per person cost for handcart treks. (Click here for an explanation of this fee) Because of the great number of visitors, missionaries take great care to schedule each facility and activity. Be sure you contact Martin's Cove to schedule your reservation 1-307-328-2953.
Most of the campsites have restroom facilities and drinkable water. Groups should be prepared to handle unpredictable weather such as extremely hot, windy, and wet conditions. Elevation ranges from 5,200 to 7,200 feet.
Detailed information about each site, as well as polices and planning information can be found in the
General Handbook for Trek Leaders. |
